14-year-old boy hit in alleged police shooting in Manila

(UPDATED) MANILA, Philippines — A fourteen-year-old boy was rushed to a hospital after he was hit in an alleged police shooting early Wednesday in Manila.

Radio dzMM reported that according to Reynaldo Donato, father of Jerwin Rondael Donato, his son and his friends attended a birthday party and were on their way home at about 3 a.m. when they were accosted by two policemen in an area near Lawton.

The policemen then supposedly fired shots in the air amid a riot, hitting the younger Donato in the foot.

The boy was brought to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center on Rizal Avenue in Sta. Cruz, Manila. He needs to undergo surgery to remove the bullet in his foot.
