COTABATO CITY, Philippines - Authorities digging for the bodies of six men believed to be ordered summarily killed by the Ampatuans recovered skeletal remains in a vacant lot in Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao, Friday morning.
Inspector Jopy Ventura, Tacurong City police chief, said the skeletal remains of a man was recovered at around 10:30 a.m. in an isolated area in Barangay Limpongon. Authorities are looking for six bodies believed to be killed sometime between 2005 and 2008 during the reign of the Ampatuans.
Armed with search warrants, authorities used a backhoe and started digging on Wednesday. The first two days of digging yielded negative results.
Scene of the Crime Operatives will be processing the skeletal remains for possible identification of the victim.
