MANILA, Philippines -- Two men believed to be relatives of a town vice mayor murdered two years ago were killed in an ambush in Parang town, Maguindanao province Monday afternoon, police said.
Colonel Prudencio Asto, public affairs chief of the Army's 6th Infantry Division, said Raul and Sandiali, both surnamed Tomawis, were ambushed in Barangay Nituan at around 2:20 p.m. Both had gunshots to the head.
He said the victims are believed to be related to Barira town vice mayor Alexander Tomawis who died in 2010.
Asto said a “rido,” or blood feud, mostly likely over land could be behind the attack.
