Miriam's blood pressure shoots up, forces her to go home

MANILA, Philippines - Sen. Miriam Santiago was forced to go home abruptly when her blood pressure rose after she shouted at private prosecutor Arthur Lim on Day 7 of the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona.

Felling unwell right after grilling Lim, Santiago asked for a doctor, and her blood pressure was shown to be at 180 over 90, according to her Senate staff.

Santiago was absent the whole of last week, and told Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile she was advised by doctors to rest because of her hypertension.

When she showed up last Monday, she told interviewers she had every intent to participate in the historic trial, aware of the delicate balance of numbers when the court must vote on the eight articles of impeachment.
