MANILA, Philippines -- The country's leading mobile phone service provider plans to generate more revenue from calls, with the launch of a new promo that allows subscribers to undertake local and international calls for P2.50 a minute.

According to Smart Communications Inc., the first variant of the promo is called 'All Call,' which gives subscribers the option to make 30 call minutes for P100 or P3.33 a minute. This option is valid for five days, whereas the promo would last until March 31.

A second variant, ‘All Call 250’, raises the call minutes to 100 for P2.50 per minute.

The promo covers calls to subscribers of other networks, as well as to landline and mobile numbers in the US, Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore.

“These All Call bundles provide real value because they offer users the flexibility to connect and keep in touch in a more personal way with the most number of people, especially with their friends and family. And they can do this at any time of the day, whatever their loved ones’ network is and even if they are overseas, at a fixed price that suits their budget," said Guido Zaballero, Smart head of mobile marketing.

Smart and its parent firm Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has embarked on a P67.1 billion network upgrade program.

Smart officials had said that revenue from calls and text messages have dropped in favor of data services, demand for which has risen by double digits.
