Baguio? Boracay? Or, Bagasbas? Wherever you’re planning your summer escape—starting in March when summer-themed events begin—the Department of Tourism wants to know where the most fun is truly happening. And perhaps where you’ll want to bask under the sun and gaze at the blue skies while slathering either your favorite sunscreen or tanning lotion.

After launching “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign slogan, the tourism office takes another leap as it partners with Nivea Philippines to continue promoting the country’s many beautiful destinations through the skin- and body-care brand’s Nivea Sun 7 Summer Wonders poll.

At the launch held at the Skye Lounge in Fort Bonifacio recently, travel journalists and bloggers got a taste of some early summer fun with a beach-themed party and a fashion show featuring the sexy swimwear creations of Charina Sarte.

Marcelo Biasia, Country Manager of Beiersdorf  Philippines, in his opening remarks said, “I am proud to announce the partnership between Nivea Sun and the Department of Tourism. I’m thrilled how much of an adventure it will be hopping from one island to another, searching for places where the Pearl of the Orient shines the brightest.”

DOT Marketing and Promotions head Tess Mauricio said in her speech, “DOT is happy with the similar direction that Nivea Sun is taking its campaign, utilizing the country’s vast active online community in spreading and sustaining the effort. Like the national tagline we are confident that Nivea’s campaign will catch no like wildfire.

“In our recent campaign, we believe that we have made great headway because the catchphrase is true. That the Filipino is central to the fun experience we are selling. Thanks to the Filipinos, too, in making this idea viral and now has evolved into a people’s campaign as it should be because tourism is everybody’s business.”

Inspired by the worldwide New7Wonders poll where Palawan’s underground river was named part of the list, Nivea’s national travel poll encourages participants to nominate specific destinations around the country.  To take part in the voting, one has to “like” the Nivea Philippines Facebook page and click the Nivea Sun 7 Summer Wonders application tab.

Voting period begins on March 1 and ends on April 15 at 11:59 P.M.  To nominate and vote for your chosen destination, simply fill out an entry form indicating your name, address, age, e-mail address, mobile number, and destination of choice. Once the form is completed, click “submit/vote.”

At the end of the voting period, the seven Philippine destinations with the highest number of votes shall constitute the official DOT and Nivea Sun’s Seven Summer Wonders list. The top destinations will be announced on April 20.

Voters with winning entries, that is, their votes have been listed as one of the Seven Wonders, also get to be part of a raffle draw that gets them a chance to win a trip for two to one of the winning destinations and resort wear by Charina Sarte.
