MANILA, Philippines – Globe Telecom Inc. has begun offering wireless fidelity or Wi-Fi access in the country’s four key airports.

“Globe recognizes the increasing need of people to stay connected and in touch whether it’s via a mobile phone or the Internet. As we modernize our network and deliver faster broadband service, we are giving back to the Filipino people by powering the gateway to the Philippines with free Wi-Fi service,” said Gil Genio, head of Globe international and business markets, during the launch of the service at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 (NAIA 1).

Globe will provide access to 20,000 users in four terminals through a central server located at the NAIA 1.

“As we continue to make improvements on the NAIA terminals, we are happy to have the support of partners like Globe Telecom to help us transform our airport into one of the best in the world,” Jose Honrado, general manager of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said.

39 more areas

Alongside its Wi-Fi coverage of four airports, Globe also has expanded its wireless landline service to 39 additional areas.

Called its Super Homephone, the service provides unlimited calls for local calling in the same area code, unlimited nationwide calls to any Globe DUO number, unlimited nationwide calls to any Globe Landline number, and unlimited calls to TM and Globe numbers.
