MANILA, Philippines -- The refrain’s still in English but the new local jingle for the Department of Tourism’s campaign lets Filipinos sing why “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” in the native tongue.
The jingle, made by advertising agency BBDO Guerrero, had its lyrics done by Tin Sanchez, executive creative director of BBDO; with music by Mike Villegas of Hit productions. Sung by Jay Padua, it takes on the Filipino's wanderlust and penchant for fun in its opening lines:
“Kating-kati na ba ang iyong mga paa
Handa nang umalis, magliwaliw at lumarga
Buti na lang tagadito ka
Sa dami ng happening
Ang dami ng isla”
(Rough translation: Are your feet itching/ Are you ready to leave, to roam and to travel/ Good thing you’re from here/ With so much happening/ And so many islands)
