MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno S. Aquino III joined the nation on Sunday in celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ as he urged Filipinos to follow the ways of Jesus Christ in order to build a nation where poverty is defeated.

Tunay nga po sa kanyang pagkabuhay naisakatuparan ang buhay na walang hanggan," the President said in his Easter Sunday message.

The Chief Executive also called on the citizenry not to lose hope in a bid to alleviate poverty.

Instead of losing hope, President Aquino reminded the people to renew their faith and keep believing in God's love. "Ito na nga po ang naghahatid sa atin ng liwanag tungo sa maunlad at makatarungang lipunan," he said.

"Noon nga pong nakaraang eleksiyon, nagkaisa tayong tuldukan ang pang-aabuso sa kapangyarihan, at ang pagdurusa ng ating mamamayan," he said.

The President noted that many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) had already returned to the country since he assumed his office. He also cited the high number of businessmen who invested in the country, paving the way for job opportunities for the people.

With the guidance of the Lord, the President said his administration is succeeding in its anti-poverty programs.

He called on the Filipinos to work together to promote the common good and to build a progressive nation.
