MANILA, Philippines—Janet Josue, mother of a Filipina on death row in China for a drug offense, is pleading with the government to help her daughter, Radyo Singko reported Thursday.
Elvira Josue was sentenced to death in China after being caught possessing 561 grams of heroine 2009.
The two years’ suspension of execution given to Elvira is about to end and her family is fearful that the execution will soon push through, especially now that Philippines and China have a stand-off over fishing rights in Scarborough Shoal.
Janet told Radyo Singko that a recruiter had offered Elvira $2,000 for an overseas employment opportunity, which turned out to be that of a drug mule.
The family lamented not having been able to communicate with Elvira except for a few letters they received since 2009.
