DUMAGUETE CITY -- The provincial government is pursing the herbal medicine program dubbed as “Go Herbal, Negros Oriental.” The program is a brainchild of the late Governor Emilio Macias II, who was a doctor by profession, and is now strongly pursued by Governor Roel Degamo who came up with a compilation of herbal medicines and a manual to guide to Negrenses on how to prepare its concoctions. Degamo stressed the rising cost of medicines prompted him and the provincial agriculturist office to make available a manual that will make it easier for the people to produce herbal medicines, coming from various herbs in the province. The manual contains the guidelines and proper use of herbs, herbal drug preparations, common ailments, and their herbal treatments.
Degamo commended the provincial agriculturist office headed by Greg Paltinca and encouraged them to find more alternative solutions to the problem on high cost of medicines through the use of herbs.
