MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE, 2 p.m.) Three persons, including two minors, were killed when a Manila-bound PNR train rammed a private MPV in Candelaria, Quezon early Thursday morning, police said.

A report from Quezon police said the Toyota Innova vehicle (ZDH 485) driven by Jonathan Domingo Agati was about to cross the train tracks at Barangay Masin Sur when it was hit by the PNR train with coach number 52123 operated by machinist Francisco Ramos.

The incident occurred at past 4 a.m., with the Innova hitting the right front side portion by the train. As a result, three persons were killed due to injuries, identified as Nancy Carasig, Quesia Nicole Marti Bolus, 5, and Paula Carasig, 17. All the fatalities are from Bacoor, Cavite.

Nine other passengers were injured. They were identified as follows: the driver Jose Marti, Cheska Carasig, Cyle Banzon, Anjelor Marti, Nataniel Bolus, Cedrick Marti, Gabriel Carasig, and Edwin Carasig.

The vehicle was described as totally wrecked. The train operator is now in police custody.
