ASINGAN, Pangasinan -- The bodies of three men, all shot in the back of their heads, were found inside a van in Barangay San Vicente here Thursday evening.
Chief Inspector Arnold Solomon, the local police chief, said villagers who came upon the van thought the victims had just stopped to rest.
However, when they found the shattered windshield, they peered into the vehicle and saw the bloodied bodies.
Alberto Reyes and Joel Reyes, both from Nueva Ecija, and Rodolfo Cayetano of San Juan City in Metro Manila, were later identified through ID cards in their pockets.
Solomon said spent .45 caliber shells were found inside the vehicle.
He said robbery appeared to be the motive for the killing.
He cited the statement of a relative of the victims, who said they had gone to Asigan early Friday to meet a contact about a vehicle they intended to buy.
Although investigators found P42,545 in cash inside the van, Solomon said it was possible the victims may have been carrying more money.
The cell phone of one of the victims was also recovered.
