MANILA, Philippines -- Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. advised the members of the prosecution team to be ready for all possibilities, including the appearance of Chief Justice Renato Corona as trial resumes Monday.
"(They should) be prepared for all possibilities, including a Corona appearance," Belmonte said when asked for his advice to the team of lawmakers who are serving as prosecutors in the trial.
Trial is at 2 p.m.
The defense team is expected to continue their presentation of their witnesses. It has submitted a list of witnesses who will appear in the trial, but not including Corona.
Belmonte said the prosecution team should relax amid pronouncements that Corona will no longer take the witness stand.
Belmonte as well as several senators have urged the chief justice to appear in the trial, saying it would be the best venue to answer allegations about his undeclared wealth.
Corona's conviction is being sought for failing to disclose his Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net worth, which the prosecution team said, was a betrayal of public trust.
Reports also said he also has about $10 million in dollar deposits.
