MARIKINA, Philippines â A paralyzed elderly man died after refusing his family membersâ attempts to get him out of a third-level apartment building that caught fire on Monday morning, a Balitaang Tapat report said.Â
Patricio Bala died after he insisted on staying inside the third-floor of an apartment on Malaya St., Malanday, refusing assistance from family members, his daughter said.
Bala insisted to let his children save themselves first, his daughter said in a report by Jay de Castro of Balitaang Tapat.
âLive wire kasi kaya medyo mahirap, sa television daw nagsimula pumutok pero imbestigahan pa namin to,â said Noel Alarcon, the Marikina Arson Investigator, of the Bureau of Fire Protection.
Estimated damage of the fire, which reached two neighboring houses, cost around half a million pesos. (Jay de Castro, Balitaang Tapat with Aliana Gimena, InterAksyon)
