MANILA, Philippines -- A gym instructor wanted for car theft was arrested Thursday by the police Highway Patrol Group.
Chief Superintendent Leonardo Espina, HPG director, said 28-year old Paul Joshua Corpuz, an instructor at Fitness First facing a standing arrest warrant issued by the Mandaluyong regional trial court for alleged violation of Republic Act 6539 (Anti-Carnapping Act), was arrested along Mother Ignacia Avenue in Quezon City at around 2:30 p.m.
The case against Corpuz was filed by a certain Wendy Puyat, who accused him of taking her Honda Civic with license plate GSV-155 on February 10, 2010 and allegedly sold the vehicle to a certain Mark Bautista of Batangas.
However, when Bautista applied for clearance to transfer ownership of the vehicle in March 2010, it was flagged and impounded as stolen.
