MANILA, Philippines -- Five days after figuring in a brawl with columnist and radio commentator Ramon Tulfo at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, celebrity couple Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barreto asked a Quezon City court on Friday to protect them from Tulfo’s brothers.
The couple also filed criminal charges for grave threats and slander against Ben, Raffy and Erwin Tulfo, hosts of TV5’s “T3” public affairs program.
The charges and the petition all stem from threatening statements said by the brothers on the May 7 episode of their program.
TV5 immediately slapped a three-day suspension on the Tulfos for the threats but has questioned a subsequent 20-day preventive suspension handed down on the program by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
In their petition for a writ of amparo and temporary protection order, Santiago and Barreto asked the court to assign them a security detail from the Police Security Protection Office and order the Tulfos to keep 500 meters away from them.
"It is very clear that there are real and serious threats to the life and security of the petitioners which need the benevolent intercession of the court by issuance of a writ of amparo and a special protection order," the couple said.
They said they had watched the May 7 T3 episode and "heard and watched" the Tulfos "uttering expletives and serious threats."
