MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE 2 - 5:50 p.m.) Chief Justice Renato Corona signed a waiver in the Senate impeachment court authorizing the opening of all his peso and dollar accounts and dared his accusers to do the same.
He also authorized the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the Anti-Money Laundering Council, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Land Registration Authority to "disclose to the public any and all information that may show my assets, liabilities, net worth, business interests and financial connections, to those include those of my wife."
In challenging the 188 members of the House of Representatives who signed the impeachment complaint against him and Senator Franklin Drilon to sign similar waivers, Corona said: "You and me are all on trial here. Let us stop the posturing ... this is an invitation for public accountability. I am no thief, I am no criminal, I have done no wrong ... I am also no fool!"
