It's been said that laughter is the best medicine, and for Filipinos worldwide who are licking their wounds following Jessica Sanchez's defeat at the American Idol finale, humor was all they were left with.
Moments after the American Idol results showed that Sanchez lost to Phillip Phillips, fans made light of their disappointment by focusing on one of the show's highlights: Sanchez's duet with theater actress Jennifer Holliday.
With amused viewers pointing out Holliday's riveting and deeply impassioned performance on the stage, it was only a matter of time before someone turned the performance into a meme:

Despite the humorous twist, fans on Twitter and Facebook were all in agreement: Sanchez and Holliday's duet was the high point of the night, with many saying that the performance gave them goosebumps and prompted to give the tandem a standing ovation.

Sanchez lost to 21-year-old Phillip Phillips in this year's run of American Idol, which drew a record-setting 132 million votes during the last performance episode of the show.
Tony-Award winning Holliday originated the role of Effie in the hit Broadway musical "Dreamgirls" in the early '80s, and was responsible for making "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going," the song she sang with Sanchez during the finale show, a pop hit during that time.
The song went on to become a landmark piece for performers in various singing competitions and musical shows, including Charice Pempengco who sang the piece in a Korean TV show and the character of Amber Riley in the hit US TV show "Glee." InterAksyon.com
