MANILA, Philippines - The pre-trial of the frustrated murder case slapped by journalist Fernan Angeles against his alleged assailant did not push through on Monday.
Faisal Sancopan, one of three suspects in the March 11, 2012 shooting of Angeles, failed to show up at the Pasig City Regional Trial Court-Branch 70.
Angeles was not able to hide his disappointment over the postponement of the pre-trial and the absence of any penalty imposed on Sancopan.
According to Angeles, a reporter for The Daily Tribune covering the Malacanang beat, his life drastically changed after the incident. He had to bring his children to Bicol to ensure their safety.
Angeles, who lost 32 pounds after the attack, remains under therapy. His left lung was hit by one of the seven bullets that nearly ended his life. He was also beaten up, his right arm broken.
Despite his plight, Angeles said he was still trying to make his life normal. He could still drive a motorbike and has resumed working.
