(UPDATE 2 - 7:25 p.m.) MANILA, Philippines - A canister containing a hand grenade was left outside the residence of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales in Muntinlupa City Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Supt. Danilo Pecana, spokesman of National Capital Region Police Office, said the package was left near the gate of Morales' house in Soldier Hill village, Putatan.
With the package was a note written: "PANG DENSA KAY CCM-NAGMAMAKALASAKIT."
The incident was reported to police at 4:10 p.m. The grenade was left by an unidentified lone suspect. The police have already secured the explosive.
TV5 earlier reported that a letter was enclosed in the package.
"Nagmamalasakit kay CJ Corona," the letter said.
The incident occurred a day after the conviction of Chief Justice Renato Corona by the Senate impeachment court.
Morales testified on Corona's alleged 82 dollar accounts, which was refuted by the chief justice.
