MANILA, Philippines - The bravery of an alert security guard, who foiled an attempted robbery by killing the assailant inside an online gaming station in Pasig City early Friday, has been recorded on a CCTV camera.
A replay of the CCTV video showed customers of the gaming station in Barangay Ugong dispersing when the suspect announced a hold-up and fired a single shot which missed the security guard, identified as Freddy Omipig, who was seated near the entrance door inside the shop.
A scuffle ensued between the suspect and Omipig when the former's gun jammed as he tried to fire another shot, until the guard managed to shoot him dead with his service firearm.
Another CCTV camera recorded how a gaming assistant fell after she was fatally shot while the two men fought each other. It was not known from whose gun the stray bullet came from.
Police commended Omipig for showing courage in foiling the robbery that was the third such unsuccessful attempt at the establishment.
