MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has busted 31 drug dens nationwide since January this year, according to PDEA chief Jose Gutierrez Jr.
Gutierrez said the illegal drug facilities are composed of six dens in Western Visayas; four each in Calabrazon, Bicol, Central Visayas, and Northern Mindanao; two each in the National Capital Region, Caraga and Zamboanga Peninsula; and one each in Central Luzon, Ilocos Region, and Soccsksargen.
PDEA said the facilities had an aggregate monthly income of P1.8 million.
Last June 6, the PDEA raided two drug dens after separate buy-bust operations in Barangay Sta. Cruz 7-B, Badoc, Ilocos Norte and in Purok 3, Barangay Saray, Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte, where three den operators and eight customers were arrested.
Several transparent sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the operators and their customers.
The den operators were identified as father-and-son Anacleto Cainglit, 61, and Charlie, 40. Also arrested were Romeo Rosaro, Arturo Jimmy Salvosa, Johnny Toralba, and Perlito Fernandez, all caught sniffing shabu.
Charlie, a member of the Apostol Drug Group operating in Ilocos Norte, is a known distributor of shabu to adults and out-of-school youth in the region.
In the operation in Iligan, drug den operator Rolando Marianas alias Bodie, 48, was arrested with his customers identified as Allan Macalindang, Alex Datahan, Jonel Lood, and Prisco Tompong. Used aluminum foils with shabu residue and drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the suspects.
Marianas, who is under PDEA’s watchlist, yielded an additional 19 sachets of shabu.
PDEA has filed criminal charges against the suspects.
