The death toll from the ill-fated MV Josielle 2 that sank off El Nido,Palawan Tuesday night has risen to six, the Office of Civil Defense(OCD) in Mimaropa said.
The body of Juanito Tito was recovered on Thursday between Helicopter and Cadlao Islands also in the municipality of El Nido, Eugene Cabrera, OCD director, said in a phone interview.
Tito was among those not on the passenger manifest but was later reported missing by his relatives who were on board the vessel, Cabrera said.
Four more persons remain missing, two of whom were similarly not on the passenger manifest.
"It's very difficult because we initially thought all passengers havebeen rescued," Cabrera said.
On Wednesday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that five people died and all the other 54 passengers were rescued.
However, it was later revealed that many continue to be missing.
Cabrera said search and rescue operations will continue until all themissing persons have been accounted for. InterAksyon.com
