ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines - A rubber plantation worker was injured on Thursday after stepping on an improvised bomb fashioned from a landmine in Maluso municipality, Basilan.
Prince Samson was harvesting rubber tree latex around 9 a.m. Thursday when he accidentally stepped on the improvised device believed to be planted by Abu Sayyaf bandits in Barangay Calang-Canas, Maluso municipality.
Samson, whose right foot was injured by the explosion, works as a rubber tapper of the Canas Agrarian Reform Agricultural Development Cooperative rubber plantation.
The police said improvised bomb could have been planted by the Abu Sayyaf bandits and extortion is eyed as the possible motive of the incident. InterAksyon.com
