MANILA, Philippines - Veteran actor Philip Salvador will try his luck in politics. He announced last Thursday his intention to run for vice governor of Bulacan province.
"Ito ay para malaman ng ating mga kababayan nating Bulakeño at Bulakeña na yes, ito ay tuloy na. Gusto kong malaman nila na gagawin ko ang gusto nila at nasa puso ko rin naman ito. So malalaman na ng Bulakeño at Bulakeña na si Ipe ay gustong magsilbi sa kanila,” said the 58-year-old actor whose mother, Corazon Reyes, was born in Baliuag, Bulacan.
[This is for the information of our Bulakeño and Bulakeña provincemates that yes, it will push through. I want them to know that I will do what they want and what's in my heart. So the Bulakeños and Bulakeñas will already know that Ipe wants to serve them.]
He is poised to run in the 2013 polls against incumbent vice governor Daniel Fernando, who also transitioned from showbiz to politics.
Salvador, a born again Christian and father of Kris Aquino's elder son Joshua, believes that God made him decide to enter politics.
“Ako kasi kapag gusto ng Diyos, thy will be done. Baka binibigyan ako ng another path na alam niyang kakayanin ko at alam niyang nasa puso ko na gusto kong gawin. So ito, naririto na ako,” Salvador, who is now married to Emma Ledesma, said.
[If it's God's will, thy will be done. Maybe He is leading me to another path, which He knows I like and I'm capable of doing. So I am here now.]
