MANILA, Philippines- While still far from being out of danger, King of Comedy Dolphy is fighting on and is doing better while still in the hospital, his son Eric Quizon said Saturday afternoon.
In a press conference at the Makati Medical City, actor-director Quizon said his father is responding well to dialysis and has become "more responsive" compared to how he was over the past few days.
"He is stable but still in critical condition," Quizon said.
Dolphy's platelet count increased after undergoing dialysis early Saturday. Quizon said his father also got to see two of his children, Manny Boy (his son by Engracia Dominguez) and Mariquita (his daughter by Gloria Smith), who rushed home from the United States after hearing about Dolphy's condition.
He was also visited by actress Nova Villa, who was the Comedy King's leading lady in the "Home Along Da Riles" franchise for 14 years.
Dolphy was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, an illness that results in breathing difficulty and worsens over time.
