RIGA - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton touched down in Latvia Thursday, the 100th country she has visited since becoming the US top diplomat less than four years ago.
The State Department said Clinton has embarked on 70 foreign trips, spent 337 days on the road and logged over 73 days on a plane.
Clinton has visited more countries than any of her 66 predecessors, according to officials.
Beginning with Japan in 2009, Clinton has globetrotted her way through countries as diverse as Angola, Papua New Guinea and Finland.
The second leg of a four-nation European visit, Clinton landed in the Latvian capital for meetings with the NATO ally's president, prime minister and foreign minister.
"In a world where we can talk to anybody in virtual reality... you still have to show up," Clinton told a gathering of young Latvians.
"There is nothing that substitutes for face-to-face encounters."
"But the personal stamina that is required in today's world in a job like this, it is quite an experience."
Clinton's next stop is Russia.
