MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine National Police will deploy 5,000 policemen during the State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Aquino III on July 23.
PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr. said the personnel will come from the National Capital Region Police Office and police regional offices 1 to 4A and the Cordillera.
The PNP will also be deploying members of the Police Security Protection Group to secure VIPs and guests, and members of the Special Action Force for area security at the House of Representatives.
Troops of the Standing Joint Task Force-NCR of the Armed Forces of the Philippines will be placed on standby.
Last July 10, the militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan filed a permit with Quezon City to stage protest actions on the day of the SONA at the Batasan Road near the House of Representatives.
