Dragon boat champions arrive at NAIA

MANILA - The Army Dragon Boat Team of the Philippines arrived at the NAIA terminal 3 at 11:00 p.m. Sunday on board Cebu Pacific flight 5J500 from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Cherifer Premium-powered team won gold in the 800-meter event small boat division at 10th Padang International Dragon Boat Festival in Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia from July 12 to 15.

Headed by its team captain veteran paddler and boat captain Sgt. Usman Anterola, the team competed against dragon boat powerhouses Myanmar, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Laos, Taiwan, Burma, and Australia.
