MANILA - Heavy rains killed three people in South Cotabato and affected hundreds of families in North Cotabato over the weekend, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported.
In South Cotabato, three people drowned last Saturday after the Sapali River in T'boli swelled due to heavy rains. The NDRRMC identified the fatalities as Jocelyn Gulac, 23, Jasmin Gulac, 12, and Maricel Buhale, 13.
In North Cotabato, a flashflood occurred also on Saturday at the town of Tulunan. Although no evacuation was reported, the floods still affected 337 families in the villages of F. Cajelo, Minapan Purok, Sibsib, La Esperanza, Poblacion (Purok 8), and Galidan.
As of this time, floodwaters have already subsided in the affected villages in North Cotabato.
