ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines--Policemen arrested on early Wednesday an Abu Sayyaf bandit allegedly involved in the 2002 kidnapping and beheading of Jehovah’s Witnesses members in the province of Sulu.
The suspected bandit identified as Hadjer Arasani alias Injing and Jilking was arrested around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday in Barangay Tandung Ahas, Lamitan City, Basilan, Chief Insp. Kenneth Balisang, Lamitan City police chief, said.
Arasani was arrested for kidnapping and serious illegal detention of six Jehovah’s Witnesses on August of 2002 in Patikul, Sulu.
The victims were selling cosmetic products when they were seized by the bandits.
Two of them, both males, were beheaded and found dead a day after they were kidnapped while the remaining four, all female, were rescued week later in continuous military offensive.
