Visitors at InterAksyon Online Onsite at the University of the Philippines Diliman enjoyed pastries, coffee, and Shanghai chicken courtesy of Ernaline’s Food Haven.
“Ernaline’s Food Haven has been around for five years now,” said owner Ernaline Go. “We do catering. We do birthdays, weddings, [even] packed lunches for [political] campaigns.”
Ernaline’s is the official bakeshop of Robinsons Supermarket in Libertad, Mandaluyong.
“Our craft is about you and your guests,” said Go. “The food is whatever you want it to be. If you have a request, we’ll serve that. We also do customized cakes, wedding cakes, party cakes, art cakes, [for example, those shaped like] Chanel bags.”
Tailoring their menu to their clients desires can sometimes prove difficult, however.
“[With] branded bags, the details are so intricate. You have to copy it, [and it] has to come out [looking realistic],” she said.
Despite the challenges, Go’s job is also a happy one.
“Maybe I found my passion here because with cooking, you get to experiment. And it’s so nice that after you cook, people appreciate [the food]. It tests your creativity, especially in making in customized cakes.”
She enjoys preparing for children’s parties as well.
“They’re fun because the kids have fun with the cupcakes. It’s nice that they are so delighted with the products. The parents also like the food. It’s really rewarding when both the oldies and the young like it, that you get to cater to both demographics.”
Go, a graduate of the Center for Asian Culinary Studies, prides herself in fostering a relationship with her clients.
“I personally cook the food for the guests. It has a personal touch,” she said. “The clients will always say you didn’t scrimp on the food. The ingredients are really rich and tasty.
“If they choose our catering service, we promise quality products.”
Customers can visit their bakeshop from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, or view their website at www.foodhaven.com.ph.
