MANILA, Philippines -Two died while six more remain missing due to heavy, incessant rains spawned by tropical depression "Ferdie," the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Saturday.
In its 1:30 p.m. bulletin, the NDRRMC said the body of 31-year old Jonathan Sagodaquiel, who was previously reported missing in Laguna, was retrieved Saturday morning in Bgy. Wawa, Lumban town.
Meanwhile, Wilcor Rellera, 35, drowned at the Pandanga Creek in Bgy. San Isidro,Naguillan in La Union.
Six more people, including four fishermen from Bolinao, Pangasinan, were reported missing by the NDRRMC.
In Cainta, Rizal, 20-year old Junrel Tamario was reported missing after being swept away by strongcurrent while fishing at the Dona Calixta creek in Bgy. San Andres. Asix-year old boy, Niel Calay, was also reported missing after beingswept away at the Balballaya River in Brgy. Lon-oy, San Gabriel, LaUnion.
Four fishermen from Brgy. Victory, Bolinao, Pangasinan also went missing after being hit by strong waves along the coastal shores of Bolinao,the NDRRMC said.
Heavy rains swamped several areas in Metro Manila, including severalstreets in Bgy. San Antonio, Makati City as well as in Pasay City.
The NDRRMC said waist-deep floods were reported in Bgy. Bangkal after thecreek overflowed, closing down the Cailles and T. Binay streets to alltypes of vehicles. Two- to three-foot deep floods were also reportedin Bgy. San Antonio also in Makati City, affecting Victoria, Trinidad,Common Wall and Magallanes Road.
Earlier in the day, PAGASA issued "red warnings" over the cities of Taguig, Parañaque, Manila, Quezon City, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasayand Marikina which meant that serious flooding was expected.
Green warning, or flooding is possible, was raised over the rest of Metro Manila.
Outside Metro Manila, flooding was also reported in Bulan, Sorsogon, particularly the road going to Lay-a, Barangay Gate. No evacuation was ordered but authorities were sent to the area to provide assistance.
Flooding also hit Purok Riverside, Kalawag 3, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat province, forcing the evacuation of 50 persons.
