Husband of Basilan town councilor gunned down

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines -- A motorcycle-riding gunman shot and killed the husband of councilor of Sumisip town, Basilan in the provincial capital Isabela City Monday morning, police said.

Nadzmie Abdulmahid, husband of Sumisip Councilor Laila Ambil, was walking by an Internet café in Barangay Aguada around 9:45 a.m. when the killer drove up and shot him repeatedly with a 9mm pistol.

The police have yet to identify the suspect or the motrive for the killing.
