The Senate approved a bill creating 27 additional Regional Trial Courts (RTCs) and Eight Municipal Trial Courts (MTCs) in the province of Cavite.
Senate Bill 2539 was approved on third and final reading with 18 affirmative votes and no dissenting and abstaining votes.
The bill was introduced by Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., a native of Cavite province.
"The number of disposed cases will always be lower than the number of cases being filed everyday in different trial courts no matter how efficient the Presiding Judge may be. In such instances, the cases being filed are most often overwhelming,” Revilla said, explaining why Cavite needs additional courts.
The bill created ten additional Regional Trial Court (RTC) branches for Bacoor; eight additional RTC branches for Imus; two additional RTC branches for Dasmariñas City; two additional RTC branches for Trece Martires City; one additional RTC branches for Naic and four additional RTC branches for Tagaytay City in the fourth Judicial Region of Cavite.
Eight additional Metropolitan Trial Courts shall also be created composed of three MTCs in Bacoor, three MTCs in Imus and three MTCs Dasmarinas.
