MANILA, Philippines -- Another Hawksbill turtle was rescued by a fisherman in Manila Bay Sunday, the second of the endangered species to be fished out of the bay in a week.
The sea turtle was fished out of the bay's breakwater area by Jomer Maestre Sunday afternoon.
Maestre immediately turned over the animal to Coast Guard office Edgar Tantiado.
On Wednesday, workers of the Metro Manila Development Authority who were cleaning up the Baywalk along Roxas Boulevard after a monsoon surge caused by typhoon 'Gener' flooded the thoroughfare rescued a weakened Hawksbill turtle that had gotten entangled in the garbage washed to short by strong waves.
The MMDA workers turned over the turtle to the Manila Zoo.
