MANILA, Philippines - Heavy rains spawned by the southwest monsoon flooded several areas in Metro Manila late Sunday evening.
The state weather bureau raised the 'yellow warning signal' over Metro Manila by 8:50 p.m., forecasting 'occasional heavy rainfall' through the rest of the evening.
PAGASA said flooding was possible in low-lying areas and those located near river and creek channels.
Heavy rains and thunders were experienced throughout the region, flooding some of the roads. The MMDA reported of waist-deep flooding in Commonwealth Doña Carmen Westbound and Eastbound, while knee-deep floods is being experienced in Commonwealth Winston area.
Araneta Avenue was closed to all type of vehicles due to waist-deep floods.
Authorities were closely monitoring the La Mesa Dam after it reached near-spilling levels of 79.96 meters due to incessant rains.
