MANILA, Philippines - "Where I'm from, everyone's a hero," said a digital poster that went viral just after storm “Ondoy” unleashed a deluge that inundated Metro Manila and nearby regions in deadly floods in 2009.

On Wednesday, the words again rang true as students from all over Metro Manila, their classes suspended, chose to spend their free time signing up for relief operations to assist fellow survivors of the floods that swamped the national capital over the past two days.

Below, a virtual diary of how young Filipinos are keeping the bayanihan spirit alive.
