(UPDATE 14 - 9:52 p.m.) MANILA, Philippines – As huge parts of Luzon remained flooded, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa issued Memorandum Circular 34 suspending all classes on Thursday in all levels, including post-graduate courses, in public and private schools in Metro Manila and nine provinces.

There will be work, however, in all national government and private offices.

Besides NCR, classes are suspended August 9 in: Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite and Rizal. 

Earlier list of class suspensions

As rains and resulting floods continued to wreak havoc in Metro Manila and Luzon on Wednesday, schools and local governments earlier reconsidered the resumption of classes on Thursday, August 9. Here's a list of schools and areas that announced class suspensions beyond Wednesday, before Malacanang Palace's EO 34 was issued declaring no classes in all levels for Thursday.

Please note that some schools have extended periods for suspensions.


Universities, colleges, and schools:

  • Adamson University, all levels including work 
  • Arellano University, all levels in all campuses includingf work
  • Ateneo, grade school, high school and Loyola schools
  • Claret School, all levels suspended until Friday, August 10 
  • De La Salle University, classes and work will resume on August 13
  • Far Eastern University, Manila, Makati, East Asia College and Diliman campuses (FEU in Cavite will have classes)                            
  • Jose Rizal University, all levels
  • La Consolacion University in Malolos, Bulacan, all levels 
  • Manuel L. Quezon University, classes to resume on Aug. 13
  • Miriam College, all levels
  • Philippine Women's University, QC and Manila campuses 
  • Polytechnic University of the Philippines, campuses in Metro Manila
  • San Beda College, Manila and Rizal campuses, pre-bar review as well as work
  • UERMMMC
  • University of Asia and the Pacific 
  • University of Santo Tomas, all levels
  • University of the Philippines, Diliman and Manila campuses 
  • Xavier School in San Juan, all levels until August 10, Friday   

 

Metro Manila:

  • Las Pinas, pre-school to high school 
  • Malabon, all levels
  • Makati, all levels
  • Mandaluyong, all levels
  • Manila, all levels including work at Manila City Hall and all trial courts 
  • Marikina, all levels
  • Muntinlupa, all levels
  • Navotas, all levels 
  • Paranaque, all levels 
  • Pasay, kinder to high school
  • Pasig, all levels 
  • Pateros, kinder to high school
  • Quezon City, all levels until Aug. 10, Friday
  • San Juan, all levels
