MANILA, Philippines - Budget hearings at the House of Representatives will proceed Thursday amid the inclement weather, leaders of the chamber announced.
"There's no cancellation of the schedule," Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said.
Listed for deliberation at 9 a.m. is the budget of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) and the budget of the Department of Justice at 1 p.m., according to Cavite Representative Joseph Emilio Abaya.
Belmonte suspended session Wednesday to allow congressmen to attend to the concerns of their district, especially those whose contituents have been affected by the floodwaters brought by torrential rains.
The House earlier said it aims to finish committee deliberations of the budget within August. Plenary debates are scheduled in September.
For 2013, Malacanang proposed a P2.006-trillion budget.
