MANILA, Philippines - Four dams in Luzon - Benguet, Ambuklao, Binga, and San Roque - are still releasing water as of Thursday morning, Benito Ramos of the National Disaster and Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) told TV5's Good Morning Club Thursday.
"May apat na nakabukas ngayon. Yung sa Benguet, along the Agno River, yung 3 dam - Ambuklao, Binga at San Roque ay nananatiling naka open." Ramos said.
However, Ramos clarified that the water release is controlled so residents living nearby remain safe and not severely affecting the Agno River in Pangasinan.
At Ipo Dam, the gates were open 50 cms, releasing water to La Mesa Dam down to Tullahan River, he said.
"Dahil walang gauge yung La Mesa Dam so controlled pa rin yan para hindi mabigla yung sa Tullahan kasi may walong barangay along that river (As La Mesa Dam does not have a gauge, the release is still controlled so as not to unduly overwhelm Tullahan, which has eight barangays along that river)," Ramos said.
