President Benigno Aquino III appealed to Filipino shoppers to bring their own plastic bags when doing their groceries.
He made this plea during his visit to the National Resources Operations Center of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Pasay City Sunday afternoon.
"If you go to the grocery, bring your own plastic bags. Let us avoid using non-biodegradable plastic bags," Aquino told hundreds of volunteers who have been repacking relief goods for residents who have been displaced by the flooding brought about by the southwest monsoon.
Aquino said Filipinos’ individual personal sacrifices will go a long way to protecting the environment.
