MANILA, Philippines -- A policeman was slightly wounded when a cornered fugitive, allegedly a cop-killer, hurled a grenade at the team sent to arrest him in Subic, Zambales.
The unidentified member of the Special Weapons and Tactics unit of the Zambales police was hit in the elbow by shrapnel, Senior Superintendent Francisco de Belen Santiago said.
Police have been in a standoff since Tuesday with the suspect, Ali Nali, who has holed out in his house in Barangay Calapacuan.
Nali, who is facing murder and illegal drugs charges, is reportedly armed with high-powered weapons.
When police arrived to serve a warrant for his arrest, Nali refused to go with them.
