MANILA, Philippines - At least 37 people were hurt after an unidentified person lobbed a grenade at a circus in Paquibato district, Davao City Saturday night, the city police chief said.
Senior Supt. Ronald dela Rosa said initial investigation showed that the suspect was actually targeting the nearby Army detachment in Barangay Fatima.
At around 9 p.m. Saturday, the suspect lobbed the grenade at the detachment just adjacent to the covered court but the grenade richocheted when it hit the barrier and exploded instead in the covered court.
All wounded persons were brought to the hospital for treatment while authorities are still determining the motive behind the attack.
