MANILA, Philippines -- The wife of the late Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse M. Robredo has been included in the shortlist of candidates for regional trial court (RTC) judge in the Bicol region.
Atty. Jose Mejia, a member of the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC) representing the academe, confirmed on Monday that Atty. Maria Leonor Gerona-Robredo, more popularly known as Leni Robredo, is one of the shortlisted candidates for the four lower courts in the Bicol region, namely: Ligao, Albay RTC Branch 13; Pili, Camarines Sur Branch 32; Calabanga, Camarines Sur, Branch 63 and/or Daet, Camarines Norte Branch 40.
Mejia said that usually, applicants in the lower courts are not nominated but normally apply for the position.
The JBC officially announced Mrs. Robredo as applicant for the position on March 28, 2012.
Mejia said that Mrs. Robredo went through the same process such as interview, and series of physical, psychological and psychiatric examinations.
The shortlist of candidates will be submitted to President Benigno S. Aquino III for his consideration.
