MANILA, Philippines - The state weather bureau has upgraded tropical depression "Karen" into a tropical storm, while another shallow low-pressure area has been spotted off Bataan.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said "Karen" was last estimated at 800 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
The storm is forecast to move north at 11 kph.
Meanwhile, the SLPA was estimated at 170 km west of Bataan.
Occasional moderate to heavy rains will be felt over the Ilocos region, Palawan, Eastern Visayas and Caraga which may trigger flashflood and landslides.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains with possible thunderstorms.
