MANILA, Philippines - Two major dams in Luzon continue to release water on Monday amid heavy rains from typhoon Karen, the state weather bureau Pagasa said.
As of 6 a.m., the Binga and Magat Dams are still letting out excess water.
The Binga Dam in Benguet has opened one of its gates spilling 0.4 meters of water. Current water level at Binga Dam is 574.60 meters, near the spilling level of 575 meters.
Meanwhile, Magat Dam in Northern Luzon is also releasing water with one gate open as water levels are above spilling levels of 193 meters.
Ipo Dam has already closed its gates as water levels are down to 100.34 meters.
Pagasa said water levels at La Mesa Dam are currently at 79.37 meters, slightly below spilling level of 80.15 meters.
