MANILA, Philippines - Two Luzon dams continue to release water Friday in anticipation of the approaching storm "Lawin."
According to PAGASA, Binga and Magat dams kept their gates open as of 6 a.m. Friday. The Binga Dam in Benguet has kept one of its gates open, releasing 0.6 meters of water. Current water level at Binga Dam is at 574.70 meters; spilling level is at 575 meters.
Meanwhile, two gates of the Magat Dam in Northern Luzon are open, spilling 3 meters of water. Water level at Magat Dam is at 192.24 meters; spilling level is at 193 meters.
Authorities are on alert as "Lawin" is expected to dump rains across Luzon and other parts of the country as it again pulls the southwest monsoon or habagat.
