CAVITE, Philippines -- Two erstwhile political foes -- the Partido Magdalo of Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla and the Lakas-CMD of Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. -- have buried the hatchet and joined forces against the Liberal Party, which is fielding Imus Representative Ireneo “Ayong” Maliksi to contest the province’s top position in next year’s elections.

The alliance of the two parties came after President Benigno Aquino III led the proclamation of Maliksi and other LP candidates in the province, among them Ronald Jay Lacson, son of Senator Panfilo Lacson, who is running for vice governor against Revilla’s son, Jolo, currently a provincial board member representing the Association of Barangay Captains.

If before many people said our parties were like water and oil, now you can see, because of our love for Cavite and the Cavitenos, were are truly united and standing together),” Revilla, who is Lakas-CMD president, said during the two parties’ proclamation rally at the Island Cove Resort and Leisure Park in Kawit.

“Actions always speak louder than words,” he said. “Unlike a dime a dozen empty promises being thrown around you can never go wrong with character, track record and vision, traits that both Jonvic and Jolo have over others. This team will not back down.  This team will always fight.  More importantly, this team will deliver. Ito ang (This is the) Dream Team ng (of) Cavite.”
